Father of the Groom, aka - "Brandon's Dad"

Brandon says:

Asking my dad to be my best man was an easy decision for me to make. The truth is, I knew a long time ago that I wanted him to be standing next to me while I made a commitment to marriage. He’s been beside me through every pivotal moment in my life, supporting me as a teacher, confidante, and mentor. He is my best friend, and most guys can’t say that about their dad. Because of these things, I decided I would repay him by superimposing his head onto a tuxedo. (see picture at top left)

How I met the groom

I was the first one to meet the groom. In fact he probably didn't even recognize me the first time we saw each other, because his eyes could only focus about a foot. No, it wasn't that he forgot his glasses, or was too partied out to figure out who I was. I was lucky enough to be there at the exact moment he was born. Even then, he chose his words carefully. As I remember it, he didn't cry and was pretty mellow throughout, just wanting to keep warm and hang out. I guess not much has changed.

What I think of the groom

I love and respect him, probably more so than just about anybody else I know. I've seen him grow and have had the honor to be with him as he's celebrated his successes and struggled with life's challenges. He has become a man of character, wit and sensitivity, everything I could have ever hoped for in a son and a friend.

My funniest memory of the groom

There are several stories he probably would rather I not tell in this space, but one of my favorites is the time Colleen and I discovered him sitting in a full bathtub, fully clothed in his pajamas, looking totally satisfied with life. We have a picture of that one somewhere.
